MONDAY: When the World Crumbles, Where Do You Turn?

2 Kings 19:1-4
1 As soon as King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes and covered himself with sackcloth and went into the house of the Lord. 2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the secretary, and the senior priests, covered with sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz. 3 They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of disgrace; children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth. 4 It may be that the Lord your God heard all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to mock the living God, and will rebuke the words that the Lord your God has heard; therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.”
Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Devotional:
When King Hezekiah faced the terrifying threat of Assyrian invasion, his first response was to tear his clothes, cover himself in sackcloth, and enter the house of the Lord. This wasn’t weakness—it was wisdom.
A true indicator of genuine faith is where you run when everything falls apart. Do you immediately open Google, call a friend, or consult experts before consulting God? These resources have their place, but they must never replace prayer as your first response.
Paul echoes this in Philippians 4:6–7: instead of being consumed by anxiety, we are called to bring everything to God in prayer—with thanksgiving. When you run to God first, He not only hears you; He also guards your heart and mind with supernatural peace.
Today, examine your crisis response pattern. When financial pressure mounts, when relationships fracture, when health fails—do you pray first or problem-solve first? The Great Physician waits for you to bring Him your brokenness before you bring it anywhere else.

Today, repent of the reaction of going somewhere else. And commit to take it all to Him first.
