Reading: Ezekiel 36:25–27 (ESV) 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

Devotional: God doesn't want behavior modification; He wants heart transformation. The crumbl cycle cannot be broken through willpower or checklists alone. Israel repeatedly tried reforming their actions while their hearts remained unchanged. God promises something better: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you." This is the gospel. We cannot change ourselves from the inside out, but God can. He removes our heart of stone and gives us a heart of flesh—responsive, alive, and devoted to Him. Transformation begins when we stop trying to fix ourselves and surrender to His transforming work. Today, pray Psalm 51:10: "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." Let Him do what only He can do.

Reflection: Where are you relying on sheer willpower instead of the Holy Spirit? Are there areas where you’ve settled for “trying harder” instead of asking God to actually change your desires? What might it look like for you to live with a “heart of flesh”—soft, responsive, and quick to obey?

Response: Pray Psalm 51:10 slowly and intentionally three times today—morning, midday, and evening. Each time, pause afterward and invite the Holy Spirit to show you one attitude, desire, or reaction He wants to soften and change.
