Monday: Forgiveness and Consequences: Navigating Sin's Aftermath

Week 4: God's Grace in Family Dysfunction

Reading: 2 Samuel 14:1-14

Devotional: Family dysfunction is something everyone goes through!! We all have stories of moments in our families where we have been hurt and when we have hurt others. It’s sad but true, knowing that we usually hurt the people that we are closest to the most. But there is hope. God's grace provides a path for healing and reconciliation. As we read about David's complicated family dynamics, we're reminded that even biblical heroes struggled with relational challenges.

Reflect on how God's grace has worked in your own family situations. Where have you seen His hand bringing peace amidst conflict?

Consider how you might extend grace to family members who have hurt you, remembering that God "devises ways so that a banished person does not remain banished from him" (v.14).

Pray for God's wisdom in navigating family relationships and for the courage to take steps toward reconciliation where needed.

Prayer:  God, I thank you so much that you have had grace upon us every time that we have hurt others.  Help us extend that grace to family and friends that have hurt us in the past.  And help us to walk in that same grace with our family members this week.
