BIG IDEA

The Christian Church will determine the next 250 years of the USA.

SCRIPTURE

Ephesians 6:12; Romans 1:18-23; 2 Corinthians 10:5

OVERVIEW

  1. We have NO EXCUSE. God's attributes have been clearly perceived since creation (Romans 1:19-20).
  2. Even the "ungodly" founding fathers admitted we needed God at the center.
  3. We live in the 4% and the 95th percentile of wealth because of God.
  4. Don't let people tell you to shut up because it's political—these are MORAL ISSUES.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Part 1: Understanding The Problem

  1. Pastor Chris mentioned being a "spoiled brat of an American" and asked two questions: "Why am I not grateful?" and "What will I do with the abundance of blessing?" How would you honestly answer these questions for yourself?
  2. What does it mean to you that you had only a 4% chance of being born an American? How does this perspective change how you view your responsibilities as a Christian in this nation?

Part 2: Understanding the CRUMBL Cycle
3. Review the CRUMBL Cycle stages together:
  • Knowing but not obeying
  • Doing their own thing
  • Being ungrateful
  • Mind wandering and creating problems
  • Skepticism and cynicism/dark-evil thoughts and tolerance
  • Pride of intellect
  • Idolizing people and stuff above God
4. Where do you see evidence of this cycle in American culture today? Where might you see it in your own life?
5. The sermon stated: "Removing God from History and Science is an OVERT act of betrayal against God." How has the removal of God from education and media affected your generation or your children's generation?

Part 3: Three Options for Response
The sermon outlined three options for Christians:
-Sit back and let darkness take more ground
-Try to fight in your own power
-Rise up and stand boldly as the church, depending on God
6. Which of these three responses have you been most tempted toward? Why?
7. What does it look like practically to "rise up and stand boldly as the church, depending on God" rather than fighting in your own power? What's the difference?

Part 4: Historical Truth
8. Were you surprised by the historical evidence of America's Christian founding (Washington's orders, Franklin's prayer, the Peace Treaty titled "In the Name of the Most Holy and Undivided Trinity")?  Why do you think this information isn't commonly taught?
9. A quote was stated: "Rewrite the past so you can control the future." How does knowing the true Christian foundation of America affect how you view current cultural battles?

Part 5: Moral Issues vs. Political Issues
10. Pastor Chris listed several issues as MORAL rather than political: sexuality, abortion, race theory, gender, creation, dishonest information, and freedom of religion. Do you agree with this distinction? Why is this important?
11. Have you ever been told to "not be political" when discussing biblical values? How did you respond? How might you respond differently after this sermon?
