Week 11: Recognizing God's Intervention
BIG IDEA: A loving God will slow you down and even allow suffering so that you will do things the right way with the right heart.
Scripture: "Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year. And David sought the face of the Lord." - 2 Samuel 21:1
Reflection: Have you ever experienced a persistent problem in your life that just wouldn't go away, no matter what you tried? We learned this week, that there are 3 general reasons for problems we deal with. #1 Poor choices have consequences, and sometimes we have to deal with these choices….even long-term. #2 We live in a broken world. And on this side of heaven, awful things happen because sin has entered the world. #3 God is allowing a struggle to get you to change or to draw near to Him.
Application: Today, ask God if there's something He's trying to show you through your current struggles.
Devotional Jam for the Day: “God Blessed the Broken Road” by Selah or Rascal Flatts or “I Thank God” by Maverick City
Prayer: Lord, help me recognize when You're trying to get my attention through difficulties in my life.
