Daily Devotional for week of August 3rd, 2025

Day 1: BRAVE

Scripture Reading:

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”

Romans 10:14 “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?”

Devotional:  The lyrics to the Sara Barailles song is a great motivator to us sharing the Good News.  “Say what you want to say, and let the words come out. Honestly, I wanna see you be brave.”  I doubt that sharing Jesus was the intent of the song, but there have been times where I’ve felt the Holy Spirit whisper that to me at a lunch meeting, at work, at the gas station, on the basketball court, and numerous other places.  It’s amazing to think that Jesus died and rose again forgive us and restore us.  And God the Father has entrusted His Word to us, with the help of the Holy Spirit, so that we take the Good News everywhere we go.  You might not be the most eloquent with words.  You might not have a theology degree.  You might not even like people THAT much (LOL).  But for every single one of us, the calling is the same……to go and tell the Good News.  How?  By inviting and including, by bringing church to them, and by sharing our Jesus story.  Starting tomorrow, we are going to give an example and hopefully some motivation for you to get started on YOUR Jesus story.  

As you watch the music video, I hope you get a good laugh from all the silliness. We aren’t asking you to be “silly”. But we are asking you to be BRAVE for the Gospel.  

Application:

Do you have a Jesus story?  If not, receive Jesus Christ today.  Turn from your way and your plan and turn to God’s.  Ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins, and receive His forgiveness. And let’s begin our journey as Born Again Believers today!

If you DO have a Jesus story, it is God’s Will that you share it.  Being thinking about how you might put together a short version of your Jesus story, which includes “My life before Christ”, “How I came to know Christ”, and “How my life is different since I followed Jesus.”
