Week 9: Right Standing with the King
BIG IDEA: We can’t control much in this life. But we can control whether we are right with the KING OF KINGS.
Scripture: Romans 10:9-10
"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
2 Samuel 19:10
“But Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why do you say nothing about bringing the king back?"
Reflection: The people’s acknowledgment of the need to restore David as king underscores the necessity of rightful authority in our lives. There have been numerous times in my life when things are out of whack. And I’ve gotta ask myself the question “why do you say nothing about bringing the king back?” In other words, “Why haven’t you invited the Holy Spirit into your life and your decisions?” In Romans, Paul illustrates the simplicity and profound importance of declaring Jesus as Lord. This act aligns us with divine leadership that brings salvation and restores order to our spiritual lives.
Recognizing Jesus as our King means daily choosing to live under His authority. Like the people urging David's return, every moment is an opportunity to reaffirm Jesus’ place in our hearts. Reflect on areas of your life where Christ’s authority needs emphasis. Invite Him into those spaces with a sincere declaration of faith.
Prayer prompt: Jesus, I acknowledge You as my Lord and Savior. Help me to consistently recognize and honor Your place in my life. Amen.
