THURSDAY: The Courage to Share

BIG IDEA: You could be in the right place with the right people doing all the right things and still be WRONG with God.

Reading:

Romans 10:9-15

“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

Matthew 28:18-20

“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Devotional:

Two young women nervously approached Ellie and I (Chris) on a pier to share Jesus. Their voices trembled, but their obedience was beautiful. They didn't have perfect words or flawless delivery—they simply cared enough to try.

Everyone can invite, include, and share their story. You don't need seminary training or special gifting; you just need willingness. The greatest tragedy isn't stumbling over words when sharing Christ—it's remaining silent while people perish.

Imagine standing before someone in eternity who says, "Why didn't you tell me?" That haunting question should motivate us beyond our fears. God says GO even when we say NO. He equips those He calls.

Your story matters. Someone is waiting to hear how Jesus changed your life.  It reminds us of last week’s big idea: “The only thing harder than doing God’s will is looking back and wishing that you had.”
