Week 7: God makes you the underdog for a reason: so that you will fully trust him.
Scripture Reading: 2 Samuel 15:30-34 and Romans 12:19.
These passages illustrate the importance of repentance and relying on God during times of adversity. As David ascends the Mount of Olives, he exemplifies humility and dependence on God through PRAISE and PRAYER, despite his dire circumstances. Romans 12:19 reminds us not to seek revenge but to leave room for God’s wrath, emphasizing that “vengeance is mine, says the Lord.”
Name a time when you were suffering at your “rock bottom”. Reflect on that period of suffering and consider how turning to God, like David did, can transform your situation and allow God to act on your behalf.
Embrace freedom through Christ today. For some, this means to FORGIVE. For others during the trial, the calling is the PERSEVERE. Remember that BITTERNESS BREEDS, but FORGIVENESS FREES. Extend forgiveness by giving the person that offended you and that situation forward to God.
Pray for God to continue to help you to remember to PRAISE and to PRAY whenever adversity and suffering comes your way.
