Wednesday: Forgiveness and Consequences: Navigating Sin's Aftermath

Week 9:  Knowing the Difference

BIG IDEA:  We can’t control much in this life. But we can control whether we are right with the KING OF KINGS.

Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

2 Samuel 19:8

"Then the king arose and took his seat in the gate. And the people were all told, 'Behold, the king is sitting in the gate.' And all the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled every man to his own home."

Reflection: David’s return to his role demonstrates an understanding of where his leadership was needed despite personal turmoil. Aligning this action with the wisdom from Proverbs, we see the importance of submitting to God's guidance rather than relying solely on our judgment. This brings about clarity in decision-making and renewed purpose.

Letting go of our own understanding of things is a profound act of trust. It means believing that God’s perspective is higher and broader. Reflect on areas where you’ve tried to control outcomes based on your understanding. Ask God to reveal His path and trust that He will straighten your paths in His perfect timing and wisdom.

Prayer prompt: Father, help me to trust in Your understanding above my own. Guide me as I discern what should and should not be my responsibility. Amen.
