Reading: Lamentations 3:22–26 (ESV) 22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;  his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning;  great is your faithfulness. 24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,  “therefore I will hope in him.” 25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. 26 It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Devotional: Jehoahaz led Israel deep into idolatry, yet when he cried out, God listened. This reveals a stunning truth: God's mercy is based on His faithfulness, not ours. We don't earn His compassion through perfect behavior; He extends it because of His unchanging character. His mercies are new every morning—not because we deserve them, but because He is faithful. When you've wandered far into the crumbl cycle, when you've exchanged God's glory for lesser things, remember: God still hears the desperate cry of His children. He doesn't delight in judgment; He desires restoration. No matter how far you've gone, God's grace reaches farther. Return to Him today with honest confession, trusting His mercies are waiting.

Reflection: Is there any area of your life where you feel “too far gone” for God’s mercy? How does this passage challenge that belief? Think about how God has shown you mercy in the past—times He forgave, restored, or protected you when you didn’t deserve it. How does remembering those moments affect your view of Him today?

Response: Spend a few minutes in honest confession before God. Name specific sins, compromises, or idols. Then, instead of wallowing in shame, thank Him specifically that His mercies are new for each one you just confessed. If helpful, write out a short prayer of repentance and gratitude.
