Week 11: Responding to God's Correction
BIG IDEA: A loving God will slow you down and even allow suffering so that you will do things the right way with the right heart.
Scripture: "I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from guilt. And the Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness." - 2 Samuel 22:24-25
Reflection: Even though David messed up royally, God's grace and mercy covered every sin. I don’t know about you, but my mind was totally blown this weekend thinking that Jesus ALREADY KNOWS every sin that we will ever commit. Yet…..He still saves us!!! I (Chris) am a flawed, messed up dude in alot of ways. I can be selfish. I can be lazy. I can be hard to live with at times. Just ask Rebecca. LOL. And when I DO sin, I should CONFESS my sins and REPENT of my sins. Living a life of CONFESSION and REPENTANCE will only make my testimony stronger to my wife, my family, and this world. But get this…….even though I struggle with the earthly impact of sin in my life, and even though I battle my fleshly desires against sin on this side of eternity, I know one thing is for sure: I AM FORGIVEN. I AM BLOOD-BOUGHT. I AM SET FREE ETERNALLY by the LIFE, the DEATH, and the RESURRECTION of JESUS CHRIST. AMEN!!!
Application: Thank God for his Grace. And in response, practice CONFESSION and REPENTANCE in your life. What might God be calling you to repent of so you can experience His greater purpose for your life?
Devotional Jam for the Day: “My Heart is Yours” by Passion Worship or “Build My Life” by Pat Barrett
Prayer: God, help me respond to Your correction with a humble heart so I can fully experience Your purpose.
