Wednesday: Brave

Day 3

Scripture Reading:

Romans 5:8 “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Ephesians 2:4-9 “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Devotional:  Did you notice the first two words of BOTH of those verses?  BUT GOD.  If you wanted to write the shortest testimony in the history of testimonies it could be those two words.  But please don’t….because we want to hear more of how you met Jesus!  Below is my example of how I met Christ:

SALVATION STORY:

After mulling it over for weeks, I (Chris) walked up to my mom and told her I needed forgiveness for my sins and for Jesus to be my Savior. That night, I skipped my favorite TV show (ALF) and prayed to ask Jesus to forgive me for my sins. I told Him that I believed He died and rose again. I asked Him to be my Savior and to lead me.

Application:

Don’t worry, I DID catch up on that Alf episode later.  Today is your day to write out the portion of your own personal salvation story.  The moment that you realized you were born again. Some people know the day, the time, and the hour.  Honestly, I do think that is helpful. In my upbringing, I was encouraged to “nail it down”.  However, some of you might have a story in which God took you on a longer and more complex journey.  The most important part of this story is that you declare that you TURNED from your way and you TRUSTED in Jesus. It might have happened in your bed. It might have happened at your desk at work. It might have happened at a baseball game or at church or at Wally’s.  Write out your story of when you realized you were born again.
