Friday: Being Filled with the Holy Spirit

BIG IDEA: The wisdom of WELCOMING GOD gives us a CLEAR VISION for our lives.

Scripture:  Ephesians 5:18 (ESV)

"And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,"

God gives us the freedom to CHOOSE what we want to fill our lives with.  But at the end of the day, it comes down to two choices. 1) THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD  2) THE THINGS OF GOD

In Ephesians 5, Paul’s exhortation contrasts being filled with wine with being filled with the Holy Spirit.  He teaches us that the latter of the two grants true clarity and purpose. While the world offers temporary and often misleading comforts, the Spirit provides enduring wisdom and strength, enabling us to live vibrantly in alignment with God's intentions. The call to be filled with the Spirit is an invitation to live a life characterized by the fruits and gifts that point us and others to Christ.

The influence of the Holy Spirit in our lives becomes evident through transformative changes, guiding every action and decision within God's framework of love and truth. This filling equips us to navigate life with clarity, steering away from distractions that cloud judgment. Embracing the Holy Spirit's presence leads us towards maturity, giving us insight and the ability to discern God’s voice amidst the noise.

ACTION STEP:  Spend some time today in prayer and worship, inviting the Holy Spirit to fill and guide you. Be observant of opportunities for the Spirit to work through you today.
