Daily Devotional for week of July 27, 2025
Day 5: Fully trusting God at work
BIG IDEA for the week: Even after you slay a giant in your life there will be another one waiting for you.
Passage: 2 Samuel 24:24-25
"But the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. And David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord responded to the plea for the land, and the plague was averted from Israel."*
New Testament Passage: Colossians 3:23-24
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."*
Devotional: Change is hard!! Letting go of the good times of the past and looking forward can bring fear and tears. But change can also bring new challenges and a new-found trust in God. David transitioned from warrior to king, each role with its own challenges. Similarly, career transitions can introduce new giants. In every stage, God provides guidance and calls us to work as if for Him, not merely human masters.
Reflection: Reflect on your current journey at work or in areas you serve. Are there any changes on the horizon?. What challenges do you face, and how have past victories prepared you? Consider how to integrate your faith into your work life continuously, acknowledging God’s sovereignty over your career, and whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.
