BIG IDEA for the week: Godly wisdom leads us to repentance instead of tolerance
Scripture: Deuteronomy 11:26-28 (ESV)
"See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way that I am commanding you today, to go after other gods that you have not known."
Israel was given a choice, much like Solomon, to either follow God's commandments and receive blessings or turn aside and face consequences. This conditional promise parallels the "IF" and "THEN" covenant God made with Solomon. God does not coerce faithfulness but presents a clear path, promising rewards for obedience and consequences for disobedience.
Our walk with God involves active participation in His commandments, for it is through our choices that we invite either His blessings or discipline. Reflect on your life and consider the choices that align you with God's promises. Choose today to walk in obedience, aware that God’s promises are tethered to our faithful response to His calling.
Action Step: Reflect on one area of obedience you’ve been struggling with. Commit to making a change today, relying on God’s strength to do so.
Prayer:
Father, grant me the strength to choose obedience daily. Help me to recognize the weight of my choices and to walk in His ways. Align my heart with Your will and let my life be a testament to choosing the blessing of following You. Amen.
