Monday: Day 1 of 21 DAYS OF PRAYER!!  (6 am at Connect in the worship center Mon-Saturday)

Big Idea: God does something FOR US, so that He can work IN US and THROUGH US.

Theme:  God's Purpose and Our Calling

Scripture: Isaiah 6:1-8

“In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.” And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.””

I always thought the Isaiah in this historical account was an old an bearded man.  But seeing Isaiah as an 18-20 year old young adult changes my whole thought of this experience.  In the vivid vision Isaiah had of God, he was confronted by his own sinfulness and human limitations. Yet, as a young man, God chose to cleanse Isaiah and call him into a life of purposeful service. This encounter demonstrates that God often reveals His immense power and holiness not only to humble us but to prepare us for His service. Isaiah’s response, "Here am I, send me," signifies a heart ready to serve God’s purpose despite personal shortcomings. Just like Isaiah, we each have a moment of recognition when we realize the grand purpose God has for our lives. He works for us by providing grace and forgiveness, enabling our transformation and equipping us for His work.

Action Step: Before you move on with your day, spend time in prayer today, asking God to reveal His purpose for your life. If you’ve gotta run to the next task, set a time on your phone and calendar before you go to sleep tonight. (10 minute minimum)  Write down any insights or directions you feel led to, and commit to saying, "Here am I, send me," as a step of faith and openness to serving Him.
