Reading: 1 Peter 1:6-7 “In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

Devotional: Jesus made it very clear when He told His disciples: “In this world you will have trouble.”  Our broken world introduces us to all different types of trials and struggles.  And when circumstances scream bad news, it's easy to lose sight of God's invisible work. The Israelites saw only famine and siege of Syria, but God was orchestrating deliverance they couldn't yet see.

Reflection: Paul reminds us that our present troubles are temporary and light compared to eternal glory. What looks like affliction today is preparing something magnificent tomorrow. The key is shifting our focus from what we can see to what we cannot—the eternal purposes of God.

Response: Today, identify one difficult circumstance in your life. Instead of asking "Why is God allowing this?" ask "What might God be preparing that I cannot yet see?" Trust that behind your visible struggles, invisible grace is at work.
