Monday: The Choice

BIG IDEA: The life you build determines who lives there.

Scripture: 1 Kings 5:5 – “I intend, therefore, to build a temple for the Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord told my father David, when he said, ‘Your son whom I will put on the throne in your place will build the temple for my Name.’”Before the first stone was cut, Solomon made a decision—he “intended to build the Temple for the Lord”.

That choice set everything else in motion. The first step in doing anything is to choose to do it. The life you build is also a choice. What kind of life are you choosing to build today? Solomon chose to build a

Temple for the Lord. But notice: it wasn’t just one moment of decision. Solomon had to keep choosing, day after day, year after year, until the Temple was complete. That’s how it works in our walk with God. Choosing Christ is not just a one-time experience—it’s a daily

decision. Jesus said in John 10:9, “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.” Every day we decide again to come through the Gate, to enter His presence, to let Him lead us. Building a life where God dwells doesn’t happen overnight. It begins with a choice, but it continues with choices—daily surrender, daily obedience, daily walking with Jesus. Just as Solomon chose to build a

Temple for God’s presence, you and I must continually choose to build our lives as a dwelling place for His Spirit.

Action Step: Ask yourself: Where do I need to choose Christ again today? Maybe it’s in how you handle a relationship, a habit, or a worry. Write it down, and each morning this week, remind yourself to walk through the Gate again.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being the Gate. I don’t just want to choose You once—I want to choose You daily. Help me to walk through the Gate each morning, surrendering my life to You again and again. Amen.
