BIG IDEA: It's better to be lonely and following God than popular and following the world.
Scripture Reading**: Matthew 7:13-14 (ESV)
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few."
God….the all-powerful Creator of the universe…..gives us the option to choose. Will it be the narrow gate or the wide gate? The choice between the narrow and wide gates represents not just the course of our lives but the commitment to living out our faith authentically. Jesus warns that although the wide path is attractive and popular, it leads to destruction. By contrast, the narrow path, though challenging and often lonely, leads to life. This life is marked by peace, purpose, and eternal fulfillment.
Being on the narrow path requires faith in Jesus. And faith can produce courage and determination. Choosing the narrow path involves saying no to earthly temptations and yes to a life of faithfulness to God. Elijah's story reminds us that even when we stand alone against cultural and societal norms, with God, we can never truly be defeated.
You are Never Truly Alone!: The Holy Spirit walks alongside us as our guide and comforter on this narrow path. Though the journey may feel isolating at times, the presence of God assures us that we are never walking alone.
Action Step: Identify an area in your life where you have chosen the wide path. This week, take practical steps to move towards the narrow path. Reflect on God's word and seek guidance through prayer.
Prayer: Lord, help me to live more like Elijah in a world of Ahabs. I can’t do this without your power. And I pray you would guide me by Your Spirit and through Your Word as I receive community and encouragement from Your people.
