Reading: 2 Kings 6:15-17
“When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
Devotional: Elisha's servant woke to an impossible situation—surrounded by enemies with no escape. Fear gripped him until Elisha prayed, "Lord, open his eyes." Suddenly, he saw the mountain filled with horses and chariots of fire. The physical reality hadn't changed, but his spiritual vision transformed everything.
Reflection: What impossible situation are you facing today? Maybe it’s something pressing in on you from every side, a relationship strain, financial pressure, uncertainty about the future, or a burden you can’t seem to shake. Like Elisha’s servant, it’s easy to wake up and immediately see what’s against you. Fear feels logical when all you can see are the chariots of the enemy.
But this passage reminds us that what we see is not the full story. The servant wasn’t actually alone or outnumbered... he was simply unaware. The unseen reality was far greater than the visible threat. How often do we let what is visible dictate our peace? God is not asking you to deny reality; He is inviting you to see a greater one. The Lord of Heaven’s armies is present, active, and surrounding you even when your eyes cannot yet see it.
Response: Ask God to open your spiritual eyes today... not just once, but continually. Pray specifically for the situation that feels overwhelming. Instead of asking Him to immediately remove it, ask Him to reveal where He is in it.
Start your morning with this simple prayer: “Lord, open my eyes. Help me see Your presence, Your protection, and Your power at work in my life today.”
Take a moment to journal one area where fear has been louder than faith. Write down what you see in the natural, then write what is true about God in that same situation. Remind yourself that His promises are more certain than your perceptions. Then walk forward in trust, believing that even if you cannot see the chariots of fire, they are already surrounding you.

I needed to have read the Monday devotional on Monday. Now it's the wee hours of Tuesday morning. But I still am so grateful to have read this. Remembering God sees and knows all. He has all of my concerns in His hands. I can trust him no matter what it looks like in the natural. Thank you Lord Jesus for this reminder. ❤️❤️🙏🙏
