Saturday: Aligning with God's Spirit

BIG IDEA for the week:  Godly wisdom leads us to repentance instead of tolerance

Scripture: Galatians 5:16-18 (ESV)

"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law."

This passage in Galatians outlines the tension between walking by the Spirit and gratifying the flesh, a division Solomon experienced as his reign unfolded. Initially aligned with the Holy Spirit, Solomon's compromises led him astray, illustrating how tolerating small sins can incrementally draw one into opposition to God's ways.

Walking by the Spirit requires continuous intentionality, denouncing the flesh's desires for materialism, pride, disobedience, and greed. Let today be a day where you seek alignment with the Spirit, submitting fully to His direction. Embrace the liberty of living under His guidance, turning away from the subtle temptations that might lead astray.

Action Step: Pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal and help you reject areas of fleshly desires in your life. Strive to walk by the Spirit in every decision you make today.

Prayer:

Spirit of God, fill my heart and lead my path. Show me the areas where I have gratified the desires of the flesh and give me the strength to reject them. Help me live by Your guidance, seeking to honor You in all things. Amen.
