BIG IDEA: The greatest thing you could ever do is to ask God for wisdom and follow through.
Scripture: James 1:5 - "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."
James reminds us of the accessibility and generosity of God’s wisdom. By asking God for wisdom, we acknowledge our limitations and express our dependence on His guidance. This humble request opens us to receive not only wisdom but the rich blessings that accompany a life aligned with divine insight. God’s promise is clear: when we ask for wisdom, it is given liberally and without judgment.
Honestly, if you aren’t wise, it’s your own fault. Look further about what James has to say here:
James 4:2-3 “You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.”
Wrapping up this week of devotions, we need to decide HOW to pray. Do we want to pray for what WE want? Or do we want to pray for what GOD wants? God says He’ll give us wisdom if we ask. But if we just waste time praying for the other stuff, it will never truly satisfy us.
As you seek wisdom today, approach God with confidence and humility, knowing He is eager to provide. Our dependence on Him paves the way for His abundant grace and insight to flow into our lives. Engage actively with the wisdom He grants, allowing it to shape your thoughts, decisions, and actions as you navigate the journey of faith.
Action Step: Today, intentionally ask God for wisdom in the moments you will face. Record how His guidance influences your actions and decisions.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your generous offer of wisdom. I come to You in humility and dependence, asking for the insight to navigate each day with grace and truth. Let Your wisdom permeate my life as I strive to follow Your will. Amen.
