God desires for us to live as MISSIONARIES of His MISSION, not just CONSUMERS of His blessings.
Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 18:17-19 (NIV)
"When he saw Elijah, he said to him, 'Is that you, you troubler of Israel?' 'I have not made trouble for Israel,' Elijah replied. 'But you and your father's family have. You have abandoned the Lord's commands and have followed the Baals. Now summon the people from all over Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel. And bring the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table.'"
Elijah stands boldly before King Ahab, refuting the accusation of being a troubler of Israel by pinpointing the true source of Israel's issues—the abandonment of God’s commands. Elijah challenges the king to gather his people and false prophets for a showdown on Mount Carmel. This confrontation serves not just as a prophetic rebuke but as a strategic proclamation of God’s sovereignty.
In this, Elijah exemplifies a committed missionary, willing to confront cultural norms with truth and courage. God calls us to step beyond mere consumption of His blessings, encouraging us to actively spread His truth and love in a world turned away from Him.
Jesus sent His followers into the world to make disciples, commanding us to be His witnesses. The Holy Spirit empowers us to fulfill this calling with boldness and wisdom. As followers of Christ, we are called to engage with culture, living as ambassadors of His kingdom wherever we are planted.
Action Step:
Identify one way you can actively live out your faith this week, whether by sharing the gospel, engaging in acts of service, or standing for truth in your community.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to live as a missionary, not just a consumer of Your blessings. Empower me with Your Spirit to boldly proclaim Your truth and love wherever You have placed me. Let my life reflect Your grace and truth to those around me. Amen.
