Reading: 2 Kings 7:9 “Then they said to one another, “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news. If we are silent and wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come; let us go and tell the king’s household.”
Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
Devotional: Once the lepers realized the abundance that God had provided, they were struck with conviction: “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news. If we are silent…” They understood that blessing carries responsibility. Good news isn’t meant to be hoarded; it’s meant to be shared.
Reflection: Jesus says the same to us in the Great Commission. If we’ve received forgiveness, hope, and eternal life, keeping it to ourselves is “not doing right.” Somewhere in your life is a person, family, or coworker “under siege” spiritually—starving for hope, meaning, or peace. You don’t have to have all the answers; you simply need to do what the lepers did: go and tell what you’ve found.
Response: Maybe you’ve been delaying sharing the Good News. It’s not too late! And even if you are a little late, it’s better LATE than NEVER. Today, ask God to show you one person to intentionally love and invite/bring church to them/share your story—whether you invite them to church, to small group, into a conversation about faith, or simply into your prayer life. You are not just a recipient of Good News; you are a carrier of it.
