BIG IDEA: The wisdom of WELCOMING GOD gives us a CLEAR VISION for our lives.
Scripture: 1 Kings 8:54 (ESV)
"Now as Solomon finished offering all this prayer and plea to the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, where he had knelt with his hands outstretched toward heaven."
Everyone is different in their prayer, praise, and worship. Some are more naturally expressive than others. But there are also some clear examples of Biblical characters, even kings, that humbled themselves in God’s sight by kneeling, raising hands, shouting, and dancing. Most Baptists, Catholics, Methodists, Lutherans, and Presbyterians….well actually anyone that isn’t Pentecostal……seems to take issue with expressive worship. And I get that. Acting crazy and chaotic is not something in Scripture. However, there is plenty of evidence of passionate, loud, and expressive worship all throughout the pages of God’s Word.
Solomon’s act of kneeling at the altar, a king humbling himself before God, symbolizes complete surrender. This surrender brought clarity and focus to Solomon, aligning him with God’s vision for his leadership and the nation. Surrendering to God involves releasing control and acknowledging our need for His guidance, which leads to the profound clarity required to navigate life’s challenges.
In surrender, we find liberation and focus. By releasing our hold on personal agendas and trusting in God’s sovereignty, we allow Him to illuminate our path and provide insight into the next steps of our journey. Through focused surrender, God’s presence becomes the lens through which everything else comes into view, sharply defining our purpose and strengthening our faith.
ACTION STEP: Identify an area of your life where you need to surrender control to God. Spend time in prayer, expressing your commitment to trust His direction for your life.
