Scripture: Matthew 5:14-16

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."

Think about some of the stories from this past Sunday……..so many people were impacted because ordinary people chose to volunteer on the parking lot, greet in the lobby and worship center, help care for babies and pre-schoolers, teach children, guide and inspire youth and Young Adults, counsel and pray for those struggling with addiction.  God might use YOU to be an answer to someone’s prayer.  You can be a light.  

The world is filled with needs, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed wondering why God doesn’t intervene. However, we must remember that God often chooses to work through us. The song "Do Something" causes us to really think about our GREATER PURPOSE.  So many times I’ve found myself frustrated with what is going on in the world around us.  And then I remember that God wants me to play a role in bringing restoration through the power of the Holy Spirit.  We all might be called in different ways. But as the body of Christ, we can function in ways that go far beyond what we can even fathom in both this life and the next.  When we step into roles of service, we become agents of change in our church and community. It’s often through simple acts of service that we fulfill God’s call to make a difference in people's lives.

Action Step:  Volunteer and engage with a church ministry or community service project this week. If you’re new to serving, start small and see how God might use your efforts for His glory.
