Thursday: God is always faithful, even when we’re not

BIG IDEA for the week:  Divided people are distracted by the surface. Devoted people see the heart of the matter.

Scripture of the Day:

"But I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand and give it to you—ten tribes. I will give one tribe to his son so that David my servant may always have a lamp before me in Jerusalem, the city where I chose to put my Name." - 1 Kings 11:35-36 (NIV)

God's sovereignty is evident as He orchestrates the division of the kingdom due to Solomon's unfaithfulness. Despite the impending division, God remains faithful to His promise to David, allowing a remnant to continue. This signifies that even in judgment, God sustains hope and purpose for His people.

Life can sometimes feel fragmented and divided, yet God is actively working in each piece, steering us back to His promises and plans. His covenant with David assures us that God remains committed to His plans, despite our failings or life's disruptions. God’s promise of a "lamp" in Jerusalem signifies hope and continuity, reflecting His everlasting faithfulness.

Our challenge lies in trusting God's bigger picture, even amidst life's divisions. Through faith and obedience, we experience God's sustaining presence, which promises illumination and direction, much like the "lamp" in Jerusalem. As we walk faithfully, we lean not on our understanding but on God's unwavering promises.

Action Step:

Take time to reflect on God's faithful promises in your life. Identify areas of division or struggle, inviting God to shine His light and provide clarity and unity.

Prayer:

Faithful God, thank You for Your unwavering promises. Illuminate my path with Your light, and guide me through life's divisions with trust and faithfulness. Amen.
