Thursday: God’s Presence Brings Life

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! I hope that today is an amazing day spent thanking God for Jesus and spending some time with family and friends. From the Perstrope family and from the Connect Church family, we wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Scripture from 1 Kings:
1 Kings 20:28-29 (ESV): "And a man of God came near and said to the king of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Because the Syrians have said, ‘The Lord is a god of the hills but he is not a god of the valleys,’ therefore I will give all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”’
John 10:10 (ESV)
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."
In many ways, the mindset of the Syrians is the mindset of our world and our culture. Even though God is over ALL things, our culture does not believe that God is over all things, created all things, has dominion over all things, and determines the existence and status of all things. The enemy who has come to steal and destroys seeks to put a limit or a lid on our faith, so that we keep our faith to ourselves or we keep our faith “in a box.”
Despite his shortcomings, Ahab experiences life through God's miraculous intervention. John 10:10 contrasts the destruction by evil with the abundant life Jesus came to provide.
Jesus’ presence brings us life in its fullest measure—eternal life that begins now and extends beyond. His birth was the beginning of this abundant life offered to all.
Action Step:
Reflect on areas of your life where you feel a lack of vitality. Seek God's presence with renewed commitment to experience the fullness of life He promises.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, grow my faith today!!! Help me not to settle for a SMALL VIEW of Who You Are. Help me to trust You in every way. And help me to live in a way that requires trust….not just a safe life that makes me think that I am in control. Amen.
