THURSDAY: The Mosaic Covenant

BIG IDEA:  When God gives His Promise, you can bank your life and your afterlife on it.

SERIES:  WISE UP; 1 Kings, Walking in the Ways of God

Scripture: Exodus 19:5-6

"Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel."

The Mosaic Covenant established a distinctive way of life for the Israelites, centering on obedience to God's Law. Through Moses, God provided guidelines that laid the foundation for a covenant community—a people set apart for God's purposes. This was not about legalistic adherence but about living in a way that reflected God’s holiness and justice.

Reflecting on the Mosaic Covenant, we are reminded of the importance of walking in God’s statutes today. The law, fulfilled in Jesus, teaches us about God's standards and the blessings that follow faithful obedience. While we are not bound by the law as ancient Israel was, we are called to embody its principles of love, justice, and mercy in our daily walk.

Action Step: Identify one commandment or teaching of Jesus that you can actively put into practice today, reflecting God's love and justice.

Prayer Prompt: Pray for insight and strength to live according to God’s statutes, reflecting His character in all you do.
