Day 2: Navigating the Giant of Ongoing Conflicts
BIG IDEA for the week: Even after you slay a giant in your life there will be another one waiting for you.
Passage: 1 Chronicles 20:4-5
"And after this there arose war with the Philistines at Gezer. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite struck down Sippai, who was one of the descendants of the giants, and the Philistines were subdued. And there was again war with the Philistines, and Elhanan the son of Jair struck down Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam."
New Testament Passage: Ephesians 4:2-3
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."*
Devotional: Relationships, whether with family or friends, often face challenges. Like the giants David encountered, new conflicts may arise even after resolving one. As soon as one conflict seems to reach a resolution, another conflict is brewing beneath the surface. Lean on God’s wisdom for guidance in overcoming these obstacles.
Reflection: Examine the state of your relationships. How can you apply David's story of reliance on his mighty men to your network of support? Reflect on God's presence in your relationships and how He equips you to face and resolve conflicts in ways that honor Him by being completely humble and gentle, patient, and bearing with one another in love.
