Tuesday: The Call to Repentance

BIG IDEA for the week:  Godly wisdom leads us to repentance instead of tolerance.

Scripture: Acts 3:19 (ESV)

"Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,"

This passage from Acts reminds us of the transformative power of repentance. When we truly turn back to God, He promises not only to forgive but to erase our past transgressions. Repentance is more than just acknowledging our missteps; it is an active decision to change direction and renew our commitment to follow God wholly. This aligns with the sermon’s message that godly wisdom points us toward repentance rather than tolerance of sin.

Solomon’s story shows us the cost of ignoring this call. His gradual acceptance of small sins led to the erosion of his spiritual integrity.  And this would lead to hundreds more problems. But God's promise stands firm for all: turning back through genuine repentance allows His grace to cleanse and refresh us. As we reflect on today’s scripture, let’s embrace repentance as a means to reclaim the purity of our walk with God.

Please take the time to listen to the lyrics of the Song of the Day today. I haven’t heard the song for almost 20 years. Hearing it caused me to completely lose it.  And here is why:  #1 I have watched “slow fades” happen in men’s lives these past two decades. I have seen marriages broken. I have seen kids get super confused. And I have seen legacies destroyed. And it started with small choices combined with unrepentance.  #2 This music video could be me (Chris) if I live an unrepentant life.  None of us are above a slow fade. Repent today and break the slow fade in your heart!

Action Step: Spend time in self-reflection and confession. Write a prayer of repentance, asking God to cleanse your heart and renew your spirit.

Prayer:

Lord, I come before You in humility, recognizing the ways I have strayed. I repent of my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. Blot out my transgressions, and lead me back to You with a clean heart and a right spirit. Help me to live in alignment with Your will. Amen.
