Tuesday: The Danger of Carrying Bad News

Reading: Romans 6:20-23 “For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Devotional: Every day we choose what to carry—the bad news of culture or the good news of God. The Israelites blamed God and His prophet for their suffering, refusing to see their own rejection of Him as the root cause. King Jehoram's paranoia and insecurity flowed directly from carrying bad news instead of trusting God's promises.
Reflection: Which will you choose….the GOOD NEWS of Christ or the BAD NEWS of everything and everyone else? The book of Romans presents the stark choice: the wages of sin (bad news) is death, but God's gift (good news) is eternal life. What news are you carrying today? Today might be the day that you unload your sin at the altar before God. He can handle it. And He would be glad to take all that sin off your chest.
Response: Are you weighed down by anxiety, bitterness, or hopelessness? These are symptoms of carrying bad news. God offers you something better—forgiveness, peace, and purpose through Jesus. The choice is yours, but the consequences are eternal.
