BIG IDEA: The greatest thing you could ever do is to ask God for wisdom and follow through.
Scripture: 1 Kings 3:10-13 - "It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. And God said to him, 'Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, behold, I now do according to your word. Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind, so that none like you has been before you and none like you shall arise after you. I give you also what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that no other king shall compare with you, all your days.'"
In this passage, God’s response to Solomon’s request highlights a crucial truth: when we prioritize wisdom over worldly desires, God not only grants us the wisdom we seek but often blesses us with more than we could have imagined. Solomon could have asked for wealth or power, yet his selfless request for understanding pleased God deeply, resulting in blessings that extended beyond his original request. This teaches us that divine wisdom is a gateway to receiving God’s favor in both expected and unexpected ways. If you get wisdom, you get everything!!!
Reflect on what you are truly seeking in your own life. Are you pursuing temporary pleasures, or are you asking God for the wisdom to navigate eternal truths? Solomon's choice shows us that by aligning our desires with God's heart, we become not only recipients of wisdom but also of the many unexpected blessings that come with it. Let this be a reminder to prioritize God’s wisdom above all else, as it holds the key to unlocking abundant life.
Action Step: Write down a list of desires you are currently pursuing that prevent you or might prevent you from prioritizing God’s wisdom. Be honest with God and yourself. Pray over these, and ask God to help you shift your focus towards seeking His wisdom instead.
Prayer: Father, thank You for teaching me the value of divine wisdom. Help me to align my desires with Your heart and to pursue the things that truly matter. May my actions reflect Your wisdom and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
