BIG IDEA: When it comes to giving our treasures, we should start with “In the Beginning, God.”
Scripture: Malachi 3:10"Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need."
Malachi 3:10 presents a unique challenge and promise from God. It’s the only place in Scripture where He invites us to test Him—specifically, in the area of giving. God wants us to break free from the fear of lack. When we bring our full tithe, we are not only supporting the work of His house but actively stepping into a promise that He will abundantly provide. This cycle transforms: God supplies, we give, God multiplies, and our faith grows. It requires trust to release the control we often cling to with our finances and trust that God indeed supplies all our needs.
Fear holds many of us back from fully participating in God's generous plan. It whispers of scarcity instead of abundance. But what if we truly trusted what God said? What if, by putting our resources on God’s altar, we discovered that our cup would overflow in all aspects of our lives? Tithing becomes a way to exercise faith that actively breaks the cycle of fear and invites God’s promised blessings to shower over us.
Action Step: Write down any fears you have about giving. Pray over them and ask God to help you trust Him by tithing faithfully this week.
