CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES TODAY! If you didn’t attend on the 23rd, we have 3 services today at 1pm, 2:30pm, and 4pm. Join us!!!
Scripture from 1 Kings:
1 Kings 20:7-8 (ESV): "Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land and said, ‘Mark, now, and see how this man is seeking trouble, for he sent to me for my wives and my children, and for my silver and my gold, and I did not refuse him.’ And all the elders and all the people said to him, ‘Do not listen or consent.’"
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths."
In 1 Kings 20, Ahab gathers his leaders for advice, indicating a moment of discernment, even though it was ultimately misguided. Proverbs 3:5-6 emphasizes the clarity we gain by trusting fully in God rather than our own limited understanding.
Ahab was on the right track in asking for wisdom. So often we agree to thinks and make decisions without seeking wise counsel. But do you know what should happen EVEN BEFORE we seek wise counsel? We should PRAY!!! When we pray, God hears us. When we pray, it changes our perspective. And when we pray, we please God, because He created us to pray. He desires a relationships with us.
Today we have so much more than Ahab. We have Jesus. We have the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the light that illuminates our path, providing clarity and direction in our lives. And the Holy Spirit comforts and guides us as we seek wisdom from God’s Word and from Godly influence. Through God’s wisdom, we find the guidance we need for every decision.
Action Step:
List an area in your life where you need clarity from God. Spend time in prayer, asking God for wisdom and discernment to guide your decisions.
Prayer:
Father, I come to you FIRST. Help me to seek Your will above my own. And show me Your perspective, that I might approach my situation according to your Word.
Song of the Day:
