BIG IDEA: The wisdom of WELCOMING GOD gives us a CLEAR VISION for our lives.
Scripture: 1 Kings 8:28 (ESV)
"Yet have regard to the prayer of your servant and to his plea, O Lord my God, listening to the cry and to the prayer that your servant prays before you this day."
This scripture offers insight into Solomon’s humility as he prays to God during the dedication of the temple. He acknowledges his need for God’s attention and forgiveness, setting an example of a humble heart that recognizes its dependence on divine grace. We need to remember that a humble heart is a “lightning rod” for the Holy Spirit to truly work in our lives. A humble heart does not seek self-glory but aims to align with God's will, understanding that true wisdom and vision come from Him.
Approaching God with humility allows us to be vessels of His grace and truth. It requires us to lay down our pride and admit our limitations, opening ourselves to the transformative work of the Holy Spirit. In this state, we can earnestly seek God's guidance and intervention, knowing it is not through our strength but through His mercy that our lives are set right. This posture keeps us grounded and open to His leading.
ACTION STEP: Identify an area of pride or self-reliance in your life. If you can’t think of one, ask a close friend. And brace yourself for their honesty! LOL Then thank them and confess this area of your life to God and ask for the grace to cultivate a humble heart.
