Wednesday: The Blueprint

BIG IDEA: The life you build determines who lives there.

Scripture: 1 Kings 6:7 – “In building the temple, only blocks dressed at the quarry were used, and no hammer, chisel or any other iron tool was heard at the temple site while it was being built.”One of the most fascinating details about the Temple’s construction is that the stones were prepared off-site, so the building process itself was quiet and orderly. Every stone was shaped to fit perfectly, following God’s exact design. This is a picture of how God builds our lives—not randomly, but carefully, according to His blueprint. God has given us both a blueprint and the light needed to see our work clearly. The ultimate blueprint is

His Word, and the light is His Spirit. If we are to build a life where His Spirit dwells, then His Word must be the truth we build from, and His Spirit must be the light we walk in.

Inside the Temple, the first two stations in the Holy Place were the table of showbread and the golden lampstand. The bread symbolized God’s provision and nourishment. Jesus declared, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). God’s Word feeds and sustains us spiritually.

The golden lampstand represented light—the presence of God guiding His people. Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world” (John 8:12). And notice this: the showbread was on one side of the room, and the lampstand was on the other. In order to see the bread clearly, the lamp had to shine. In the same way, it is the Holy Spirit who shines light on God’s Word, revealing its deeper truths and showing us how to apply them to our lives. If we want to build a life where God dwells, it must be shaped by His Word and guided by His Spirit. Without His Word, we starve spiritually. Without His light, we stumble in the dark. Together, they form the structure of a life that truly honors Him.

Action Step: Spend time today reading a passage of Scripture (try John 8:12 or Psalm 119:105). Ask the Spirit to shine His light on it, showing you not only what it says but how it applies to your life.

Prayer: Father, thank You for giving me Your Word as spiritual food and Your Spirit as light for my path. Help me to feed on Your truth daily and to let Your Spirit reveal its deeper meaning and application. Shape my life according to Your blueprint. Amen.
