BIG IDEA: When God gives His Promise, you can bank your life and your afterlife on it.
SERIES: WISE UP; 1 Kings, Walking in the Ways of God
Scripture: Genesis 12:1-3
"Now the Lord said to Abram, 'Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'"
The Abrahamic Covenant is one of separation and blessing, calling Abraham to leave everything familiar and trust God’s leading to an unknown land. In this covenant, God promises to make Abraham’s descendants into a great nation and, through them, bless all families of the earth. Abraham's faith journey sets a template for us, emphasizing trust in God’s promises even when the path is unclear.
Our faith today echoes Abraham's call to steps of faith as we become blessings to others. Through God's covenant with Abraham, we see a cascade of blessing that is to flow through us to the world around us. We are encouraged to trust God’s provisions and plans, even when they take us beyond our comfort zones.
Action Step: Consider what God may be calling you to leave behind in order to embrace His promises. Take one small step today towards that direction.
Prayer Prompt: Ask God for the courage to step out in faith and to trust Him fully with your future.
