James 4:6-8 “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
Submitting to God goes against cultural norms that emphasize independence and self-reliance. However, the Bible emphasizes the power and blessing that comes from submitting to God's will. James 4:7 calls us to submit to God, promising that such surrender brings strength and victory over temptation.
Elisha’s anointing and ascent to his prophetic role demonstrate the fruits of submission. By faithfully following Elijah and submitting to God’s calling, Elisha received a double portion of God’s spirit. His commitment placed him in a path to make a lasting impact and experience God’s greatness.
When we resist going our own way and submit to God's paths, we not only align ourselves with His blessings but also reinforce our defenses against spiritual attacks. Such submission becomes the cornerstone of a vibrant, fulfilling walk with God. Submitting to God's will is a journey of continuous surrender, which opens doors to His plan and purpose for our lives.
Action Step: Identify one area in your life where you struggle with submission to God’s will. Pray for strength to surrender it fully to His control.
Prayer:Father, I submit my life to You. Help me resist the temptations that draw me away and give me the strength to follow Your will. Let me find joy in surrendering to Your divine plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
