Scripture from the Message: 1 Kings 22:7 (ESV) - "But Jehoshaphat said, 'Is there not here another prophet of the Lord of whom we may inquire?'"
John 8:32 (ESV) - "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
Jehoshaphat's insistence on seeking another prophet showcases his dedication to truth, even when surrounded by agreeable voices. He exemplifies the courage needed to seek God's absolute truth rather than settling for collective agreements that might soothe our conscience. In our world, truth is often relative, ceasing to challenge us to align ourselves with God’s unchanging word.
In John 8:32, Jesus declares that knowing the truth leads to real freedom. Seeking truth requires courage, as it often goes against popular beliefs. God’s truth is unwavering, guiding us out of darkness and into the light of freedom.
Jesus is THE way, THE truth, and THE life. He provides the courage we need to stand firm in God’s truth amidst varying opinions. His teachings lead us to an unshakable foundation upon which to build our lives.
Action Step:
Dedicate time each day to study Scripture, asking God to reveal His truth to you. Commit to standing by His truth, even when it’s unpopular or challenging.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to approach You always with an open heart to Your truth. Help me to discern Your truths above all the lies of the enemy, the lies of our culture, and even the lies that I might start believing within myself.
