Reading Time: 3 Minutes

Reading:

Matthew 22:37

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

Psalm 119:11

“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

Devotional:

Healthy hearts don’t happen accidentally.

Just like physical health requires intentional habits, spiritual health does too. If we want hearts that stay connected to God, we have to guard them consistently.

That means paying attention to what influences us, what we dwell on, what we pursue, and what we allow to shape our thinking. It means staying connected to God not only during difficult seasons, but daily.

Guarding your heart isn’t about fear—it’s about protection. You protect what matters most.

The more we stay connected to God through prayer, worship, Scripture, obedience, and community, the healthier our hearts become. Over time, peace replaces anxiety. Hope replaces emptiness. Joy replaces bitterness. Strength replaces fear.

When your heart is connected to God, life flows differently.

Reflection Questions:

  • What has been influencing your heart the most lately?

  • What habits help you stay spiritually connected and healthy?

Response:

Choose one practical habit this week that will help you stay connected to God consistently—whether that’s daily prayer, worship, Scripture reading, or intentional quiet time—and commit to it.
