SATURDAY: The New (Messianic) Covenant

BIG IDEA:  When God gives His Promise, you can bank your life and your afterlife on it.

SERIES:  WISE UP; 1 Kings, Walking in the Ways of God

Scripture: Jeremiah 31:31-34

"Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers, on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more."

The New Covenant, mediated through Christ, signifies the fulfillment of God’s promises, offering salvation and direct relationship with God through Jesus’ sacrifice. Unlike previous covenants based on adherence to laws, this covenant writes God's law on our hearts and offers inward transformation through the Holy Spirit. It's a testament to God’s grace and desire for a deep, personal relationship with each of us.

Our experience of this covenant challenges us to live transformed lives, free from the chains of our past sins. It is a call to embrace God’s forgiveness and extend that grace to others. As we reflect on this day, let us rejoice in the freedom from sin and a restored relationship with our Creator through Jesus Christ.

Action Step: Spend time in prayer and reflection, asking God to reveal how the New Covenant has changed your life and how you can share this hope with others.

Prayer Prompt: Thank God for the New Covenant through Jesus, and ask for His help in living a life that reflects your deep relationship with Him.

Song of the Day: "In Christ Alone” with Shane and Shane
